We are currently (Feb `06 - Apr `06) having our private pilot ground school with a full class.
Our next private pilot course will probably be scheduled to start November `06, if there are enough students.

The course info is typically as follows:
Cost is $250 plus materials. The books package we recommend includes all your books, plotter, E6B flight calculator, and flight bag for $130. If you are on a budget, you do not need to get the whole package.
The course is one night per week, 3 hrs, for 14 weeks. Ground school is not hard, but it covers a lot of material. So this is actually a fairly rapid fire course to cover everything. You will have to review the material from each class at home during the week. We can spend extra time with students as necessary to answer questions or help you through any tough spots.
Please sign up early so we can order materials. There is a $100 deposit required to hold your place in class.

* Only 1/4 of 1% of Americans can fly. The percentage of women pilots is much lower (but growing - please see: http://ninety-nines.org/). Worldwide the pilots per capita are much lower yet.
Learning to fly involves two main areas:
First, Ground School teaches you about the principles of flying, plus FAA regulations, understanding weather, and other information. It is helpful if at least some of the basic information is learned before flight training starts, but both Flight and Ground School can be done at the same time.
Second, Flight training is where you learn to put that information to practice. You will learn to become "Pilot In Command". You will be master of the aircraft. You will join a unique cadre of people that can do what the rest of the population can only dream of!!!
A good way to get started is to take a Discovery Flight and get your name on the list for the next Ground School class. If you are ready to get going, Flight training can start before you take official Ground School (your flight instructor will explain key concepts as you go along) but a proper Ground School course taken early in your training will help you immensely in understanding the world of aviation.
